Still dreary and cold …

It’s still dreary and cold and my back isn’t liking it. I’ve been having to take pain med’s pretty heavy this week because of the weather. Unfortunately we can not head to warmer weather as were sticking around to see how our friend Arnette does and if she will get to travel home anytime soon. Plus we wanted to do some site seeing here. Not sure when that is going to happen if the weather doesn’t clear up soon.

I got dressed and went over and helped the girls finish packing things up and then we all went to head quarters to unpack.

Not really much happening tonight as were both exhausted and once again it was left over chili for dinner.

Now it’s time to shower and put on my warm flannels and watch some tube and I'm sure it’s going to be early to bed tonight.

Another Dreary Cold Day

008

I got up this morning and got my dishes done, picked up Ms. Southwind. I just kind of spent the morning lazing around inside. The dogs were all comfy and enjoying the heat inside.

003

I forgot to post that i had the 3 back cushions for the couch finished. Here they are. For now I'm just placing a sheet on the bottom part of the couch. I normally keep a sheet over it anyways for the dogs and if hubby comes in dirty. I haven’t worked on any more re-upholstery but plan to soon. I still have lots to get done, although I'm sure it’s going to be a slow process. I really like the colors and even though it’s not the original colors i wanted ( colors in my rugs is what i wanted) I’m happy with them.

004 005

  1. I took a couple more pictures of my finished wood floor and i can not express how much i love the wood floor over the old carpet! I love that i can scrub this one when i spill something.

001

Lenny called me a little after noon and invited me over with the guys for lunch. They were having pizza! I went over but didn’t enjoy the pizza. I wasn’t hungry but i wanted to enjoy the fellowship with everyone else. Linda and Dave from convention were there, it was great to see them again.

I ended up going over to head quarters with them and we spent most of the afternoon helping them un pack. I was tired when i got home. We had left over’s for dinner. I had left over potatoes and hubby had the stuffing and pork chops.

I got me a hot shower and it was early to bed … hope your all warmer then we are here.

Maps headquarters

004

Ms. Southwind is parked in the parking lot that has full hookups .. neat huh? As you can see they have a very nice large building. They are sad because they are moving out of this building this week.

006

009

Here is their trailer they use to haul their merchandise that they sell to RVers. This is such a wonderful organization to be a member of and they are one very huge family.

011

Here is the building that has a full kitchen, washer and dryer and full bathroom. It is free to use why your visiting here. Nice huh?

015

As you can see we are not the only one parked in this lot. Several other campers are here but there doesn’t appear to be anyone at them.

007

Can you see Ms. Southwind she is settled in nicely. Of course she is the oldest one in the lot and that is something that is normally the case. I’ve been asked why i have a older RV. How i live without slides. My response is I’m happy living inside of Ms. Southwind.

008

I don’t need slide outs, i don’t need a newer RV and i esp don’t need payments! Ms. Southwind is paid for, she offers all that i need. She gets me from place to place. She provides me with shelter from the heat and cold. I have all my needs met by living inside of her.

012

To me Ms. Southwind is a wonderful place to call home and i truly enjoy the adventures I've experienced with her. Yes, she is old, but so am I. I don’t have to worry about the dogs bringing in mud, having an accident as age does that to you. I don’t worry when my grandkids come visit that something will get ruined. If i had a new one i would be so picky and worried about all of these things. I have turned Ms. Southwind into my home and we are a perfect fit. 013

In the picture below you can see how close I am parked to the free laundry facility.

016

I got up this morning and got coffee going then we went over to take a tour inside. Visited and then i came back and did a couple loads of laundry and straightened up inside of Ms. Southwind. It’s been cold and raining here most of the day and so i decided that Chili would be good for dinner. I made a pot of Chili and then walked over to the bread store next door to check out some goodies. I got a loaf of name brand bread for $1.00, honey buns 3/$1.00 and 2 blueberry pies for 2/$1.00.

I spent the evening playing online with the free wifi from the motel across the street. Life is good, although I'd be much happier if it was much warmer where i could get outside. Hope your all having a great night and until next time ……

Waking up in a new place

005I didn’t go to bed until after 11 pm! Hmmm was it the excitement of being in a new place? Was it the excitement that at 11 pm it was still nice outside and i just enjoyed having Ms. Southwind door open? I do not know. All i know is i was up around 5 am yesterday and didn’t go to bed until after 11 pm! That is late for me esp lately when at times I'm in bed by 8.30 pm!

007I woke up around 5 am and tried to go back to sleep but it was difficult, so around 6.30 am i decided i might as well get up. I got coffee going for hubby, although he won’t be up until around 9 am or so. I’m not a coffee drinker, but i make it for hubby. I didn’t use to do his coffee but he has a difficult time in the mornings and it’s easier then cleaning up his mess so i do his coffee in the mornings now.

I decided to get my pictures loaded from yesterday and post my blog so when i get wifi tomorrow i can upload it for you all. Then i took the dogs out to go potty around 7 am. Yes, i take the dogs out in my pj’s in the morning. Even in a big city like Springfield, MO. As you can see the pictures i took this morning, they are settled in and enjoying being home inside of Ms. Southwind.

009

Uh … OH … Yep, it looks like critters hid inside of Ms. Southwind and came along for the ride. Last night i killed several of these little critters. They are horrible and they stink and they do bite! Until i got bite by one of them i didn’t kill them i just released them outside, but these are horrible little critters and nothing kills them. I 004even tried spraying raid to kill them. They get into everything and are a horrible pest!

This morning i found 2 more of them. One on the ceiling ( i know i need to scrub the ceiling, but do what i do and don’t look at the dirt … hehe) I also had one on the counter. Ughhh

I took the dogs on a walk , took a ride over to check out the Wal-mart. Yes everyone has to know where Wal-mart is. I needed some milk, coffee and cheese. Then i spent the afternoon inside as it’s getting colder and then the rain moved in. It’s rained most of the day and at times very heavy. It’s really dropped and gotten colder.

I was a good wife today. I haven’t been doing much cooking since we left Gulfport. Today i decided to bake breaded pork chops in the oven since it’s cold and some heat would feel good. Then i made scallop potatoes and some stove top stuffing. Since i was in a cooking mood and hubby has been asking for a apple crisp i decided why not. It turned out really yummy esp with ice cream on while it was hot. mmmmmm

It’s raining again and my back is aching from the rain and too much work. I did up the dishes and now I'm going to put on my pj’s and curl up on the couch or even my bed.

Hope you had a great weekend ….. until next time ….

On the road

004

Today is the day, Yep it’s time to hit the road. I love moving day! Here is Ms. Southwind all ready to pull out. We pulled out around 9 am.

005

There was some traffic, more then hubby thought there would be for a Saturday. I’ve never seen I-44 with no traffic.

006 007

011

Here is Lexi enjoying the ride … she loves to go to new places. Lexi has been with the family since April 08. She has adjusted so well to the full time life style. Lexi belonged to my son Gabe and his ex girlfriend. When they broke up she was Gabe’s side kick. Gabe moved in with us and when he left, he couldn’t take lexi as the no pets allowed rule. His apartment he is in is still a no pets allowed. Although at this point i’m not sure that i’d part with her. She has become my buddy.

012

Duke and Dolly snuggling together. The dogs love it when Ms. Southwind is on the road. Her large windshield give them such a beautiful view.

013

I just love the scenery in Missouri. I think the rocks are so neat. In all 18 states I've seen in my opinion Missouri is still one of the most beautiful. As you can see the leaves are gone and the trees are bare for the close approaching winter.

014 015

It wasn’t too long before we started getting into the hills of Missouri. The traffic was come and go but it was a beautiful day for traveling.

016

017 018

Farther into Missouri and the more south you get the rolling hills are more and more. It’s a good thing none on board have problem with car sickness.

019 Isn’t

Isn’t this a beautiful scenery picture? Looking off into the distance.

020

Here is Lucy resting peacefully along our journey.021

022

Here is hubby driving Ms. Southwind. Shhh don’t tell i took his picture, he doesn’t like to be on my blog and he hates his picture taken … hehe of course i just couldn’t resist.

025

The hills started getting bigger and bigger. Up we’d go and then down we’d go

026 027 028 029 030 031

I had to snap this picture, a town called Sleeper … hmmm Normally when i see an interesting named town i don’t have my camera out or on but today i did!

032

Missouri is known for it’s caves and i’m sure your all aware of the Meramac Cavern’s, Jessie James Cave but i thought this Cave had a great name … hmmm I have to admit I'm not into caves. Poking my head inside is about it for me as I'm claustrophobia.

036

Around 3 pm we arrived in Springfield, MO and are at our temporary destination. How long we will be here, we do not know. We have several friends here and plan to do some things with them. We are currently parked in a Christian organization parking lot. Isn’t it great that were getting to park in a parking lot with hook ups for free?

After getting settled in, hubby was in heaven as he gets like 8 TV channels and he got to watch a football game last night! TV isn’t something we have gotten to watch that much as we’ve been in areas where getting a good station with the digital tv where it doesn’t cut out constantly. Most of the time when it gets to the part you want to see the picture goes out and says no signal. I usually get frustrated at having to constantly try to tune it that it gets my blood pressure up so i just put a dvd in.

I did take the dogs for a walk and luckily i was on the pavement but in the grass was a snake! Of course i screamed! It was just a little garden snake but any snake is a bad one. The dogs paid no attention to it but of course i didn’t give them the chance to check it out, we were out of there.

Hope you all had a great day, it’s been a very good day for us and we are happy to be in our new place safe and sound.

Friday the 13th!

001-a

It’s Friday the 13th! Hmmm for some today may be a bad day and for others it’s just another day.

We got up this morning and the wind is blowing. It was decided to wait until tomorrow to head out on the road. Another factor that added to this decision was the fact that the lighting rod that was ordered had not arrived yet. It turned out to be a good thing as the night before the pop off valve on the water heater broke. So that needed fixed as well.

That is one of the good side to your home being in a vehicle. You have the option to either go or wait and everything you own is always with you. Driving in the wind is not fun. Ms. Southwind is hard to drive in the wind. Esp with gusty winds like we had at times yesterday.

Since we didn’t have the car loaded I called the RV place and they had the valve we needed so we went and got that. When i got back i called to see if ups had arrived and they had but no package .. grrrr

Hubby fixed the valve on the heater and while he was working they called and said they had found my package it was delivered yesterday! LOL So i went and got it and so hubby installed the lighting rod. Yes, i have hot water again!

We took advantage of the extra day and took our time doing the rest of things that needed to be done. Good thing because the spot where we had moved Ms. Southwind to and planned to load the car wouldn’t work. After over an hour and trying to figure out why the bumper kept dragging and moving the dolly hubby finally looked where we was parked and said, i know why now. So we unhooked the water, sewer and electric and pulled Ms. Southwind up about 5 feet and within 10 minutes the car was sitting in its resting place for our journey. Since we moved Ms. Southwind up to load the car we then had to take a tour as we couldn’t stay parked in the road. It worked out great as hubby had to replace the break thingy on the tow dolly and hadn’t had a chance to adjust it or he forgot about it …. hmmm i wonder if it wasn’t the latter? This gave him that chance to adjust the breaks. Of course only time on the actually highway will tell us for sure if he has them set right. It’s amazing how things can turn out.

I fixed a nice supper, as i haven’t done too much cooking lately. We were both craving bacon, eggs and hash browns. I did the dishes and then we spent the rest of the evening just watching TV. I took a hot shower and retired early as i was exhausted and my back was killing me.

It actually ended up being a good day, we were able to take our time and not rush to get the rest of the things finished and now in the morning all we will need to do is open the curtains and roll out.

Have a good one and until next time ….. Springfield Missouri here we come!!

Happy B’day Kelsey

Happy b’day Kelsey! Love ya !

Okay today has been a very busy day. My day started off with getting the kids up and out of here! Gabe & Kelsey spent the night, they just can’t bear the fact that mom and dad are leaving for the winter, they are already missing us.

After i got the kids off, i needed to do some things around Ms. Southwind then i got dressed and had some errands to run. I spent almost 2 hrs at the DMV! I had to get Ms. Southwind new sticker, it expires the end of December and since i won’t be in Illinois to get it, i got it today. I stopped and checked the mail. I’m still waiting for a package to arrive but it hasn’t yet.

Later i came back to Ms. Southwind got her ready to roll and go get the propane tank filled. It’s on a half a tank, but with winter and getting to hit the road i wanted a full tank. After returning Ms. Southwind is parked in a tempary place, i needed to re-organize and pack the car up.

Then it was dinner time which consisted of hamburgers baked in the oven and then i went into town to see Arnette for one last time.

After arriving home, it was time to finish up some things and do the dishes and get a shower. Then i watched a bit of tv, and now it’s time to hit the hay and hopefully tomorrow will be rolling out day.

Until next time ….. have a good one
