Labor Day weekend
After a fun filled weekend, it was a busy week with lots of things that had to be done and to top it off. Hailey was born with a birth defect in her upper neck and has to be extremely careful in things she does. Anyway a high school boy picked her up and slammed her down even after being told her neck is very fragile. So Thursday was spent rushing her to the doctor in Springfield, IL to be checked out by her specialist as her neck was hurting after it happened and her mom was called after she got to school. Hailey was upset as she thought she wouldn’t get to get to go camping with us this weekend as we had planned.
Luckily she checked out okay and xray showed no injury and she got the okay to go camping with us from her doctor. So after an hour and half drive back to her house and around 5 pm it was time to get her packed up and ready to go with us. Hailey is spending 4 days with us in Missouri for the holiday weekend. It will be the first time this summer that we’ve actually gotten Hailey to ourselves without having to share time with her little brother.
We are all so excited! It was a very long day and lots of driving and finally arrived around 10 pm!
Of course the first thing Hailey wanted to do when she got up the next morning was for papa to take her fishing! She loves to fish and as you can see she is proudly posing for a picture with the fish she actually hooked and reeled in all by herself with no help from papa. She was so excited about her catch and she thinks her fish is as big as papa that he caught.
Later that day Hailey and papa went fishing again and Hailey proudly shows her catch.
Here are some pictures of Hailey, Sierra & Gordon showing off Hailey fish. While we were down at the fishing hole they showed up with their parents.
Dailey showed up with her grandma, papa, mom & dad and wanted in the picture too.
After they finished playing with the fish, papa took it back to the camper and we headed to the swimming hole. The kids wanted to play in water where they wouldn’t bother the fisherman and they wanted to hunt for crawdads. As you can see they found some nice one and had a blast searching for them.
At the end of the day new friends said goodbye and it was a weekend full of fun and pure enjoyment of spending time with our precious princess and new friends we’ve made this summer. The next morning we got up around 7 am and by 9 am was on the road back to Illinois.
It was a long drive and i was glad to arrive, drop Hailey off and went to spend the night at Gabe’s place. I had several errands to run and then it was back on the road again to head to Missouri to pack things up and head back to Illinois. Our summer at the ranch is close to coming to an end.
