New Year Day - On the road again

I would like to wish you all a wonderful New Year and may 2008 be a great year for all of us. Happy New Year!!

Yesterday i forgot to mention that John & Chloe wanted to get some pictures before they headed out this morning. Here is a picture of & John with Chloe.

I got up and got things around this morning. I was able to get a picture of John & Chloe as they were getting ready to roll out. I also snapped a couple of pictures of the other 2 neighbors, the
motor home with the red truck is a couple from Illinois!

Their from around Quincy, they pulled in yesterday and are heading to Texas. The other motor home is an elder couple from Missouri. Their quite sure where their headed yet, they pulled in Sunday afternoon, after Ken left.

Surprisingly got up early. Had things ready to roll by 11.30 am. Ms. Southwind is heading to Alabama and Florida today.

Spent the day traveling and fighting the wind! It's a chilly & very windy day. Here are some pictures of I-10 going over the Pascagoula bridge.

Crossed into Alabama and decided to pull into a rest area and let the dogs out for a potty break and needed to rest the arms after fighting the wind all morning. Here is Ms. Southwind patiently awaiting us to return.
Look at this tunnel had to drive through .. going through Mobile, Alabama! It was so exciting, yet makes a person a little nervous. Before entering the tunnel there is a sign reminding you about your fuel and propane.

After driving through the tunnel, had to pass over the Mobile Bay, isn't it just beautiful?

Here is a few pictures I snapped going through Alabama. Alabama scenery is about the same as Mississippi, not much difference. Made a stop at Love's in Loxely, Alabama and fueled up $2.99 = $120.00

Then crossed over the Florida state line and decided to pull into a rest area. The dogs needed a break . We arrived at the rest area around 3 pm. Took the dogs to potty. Looked around the rest area and it's one of the most beautiful rest area's i've seen yet. Plus look they have a blue angel here!

After about 20 mins of trying to decide to go on farther and stop at a Wal-mart for the night or spend the night here. Decided to go farther. Was that ever a bad ideal or what .. My directions from Microsoft streets gave me a wrong turn and got lost in downtown Pensacola!! I'm on the computer searching to find a way out of this mess. Trying not to freak out, as it's not in such a good area as you can tell by the pass byers and finally find this lady and she tells how to get back on track. My directions told me to take a turn when we should of went straight! Finally get back on track and go through another area of Pensacola. Finally find the Wal-mart and i stop a security guard and ask if it's alright to park for the night and he tells me yes, but since so long with the motor home and car need to pull over by the highway and park out of the way! YES, we park right near the highway and wow the traffic! I go inside Wal-mart and stock up on a few things need. $43.00 bucks worth... wow an expensive place to sleep! Get back to the motor home and decide that with all the noise from the traffic, it surely won't bother anyone to run the generator so go out and plugs in. Now I have lights & TV! At least the TV drowns out the noise of the highway. One good thing is that the Wal-mart lot is patroled by security and he said they would keep a watch. This Wal-mart allows and invites RVers and expect their security to keep us safe. All that Wal-mart ask is no littering, dumping of tanks and to only spend one night.

Well traveled 144 miles today! Until tomorrow ......
