Christmas Eve on the road!

spent first night boondocking inside of Ms Southwind! ran the generator all night long and am i ever glad that did. It got pretty cold last night. Then generator ran from 8 pm - 8 am on less then 3 gallon of gas! ran electric heater all night long and watched tv along with other electric things. it was still cheaper to boondock then stop and pay for one night of hookups. spent $8.00 in fuel, but it was going to be $18 - 20 for hookups at a campground. Plus would of had to of unhooked the tow car to park.

I woke up around 6.30 am, got dressed, and around, decided since gas is cheaper here to go ahead and fill the generator and & gas cans back up, for just in case. $2.70 = $20.00 and was on the road by 8.30 am. Made some changes in the plans. Decided to go ahead and tour Graceland today instead of waiting until Wed, Dec 26th.

There was a bit of a snag in directions. I was busy site seeing and so missed the second exit and had to make a turn around. .. no big deal .. LOL

The bridge pictures are of the bridge you cross to go into Memphis. The river is the Mississippi river in Memphis Tennesse.

finally get back onto the interstate and make the right turn this time. Finally LOOK ... pull into Graceland parking lot around 10.15 am. Here is a picture of all the signs you will see when you tour Graceland. Heartbreak Hotel & behind that is the RV Park Campground, Entrace, where you pay and park, the signs on both directions of the street, named Elvis Presley Blvd and the shechedule.

Here is a picture of the rooms inside of Graceland. Top row left to right. The Jungle room, Elvis's parents bedroom, and the pool room, middle left to right is, the entry way when you walk into the mansion from the front, the family room and behind it is the music room. The family room was white carpet, white furniture and deep red velvet curtains hung behind the couch. The music room had yellow velvet curtains that you can see in the middle picture. The windows in between the family room and music had peacocks on each side, they were really neat looking. below the family room picture is the dinning room. The next picture is of the stair case that goes up stairs. It was decorated for Christmas. Beautiful! The bottom left - right, this room is decorated in a bright yellow and navy blue. It's the TV room, then the Elvis's grand piano, that was in the music room behind the living room. They said he loved to get everyone gathered around and play and sing around the piano. Bottom right is Elvis's grand piano. The upstairs is not allowed to be toured out of respect to Elvis. They say that very few people were allowed upstairs even when Elvis was alive. That was his own private area of the house. He always met his guest down stairs.

These pictures are of Elvis's Gold & Platinum records and awards he has won through out the years. It's amazing to see the walls filled with so many awards. From the ceilings to the floors, they are nothing but awards.

I spent the day touring and I absolutely loved it!!! I have wanted to go to Graceland as long as i can remember. I've been near Memphis several times and never gotten a chance to stop .. but today is my day to see Graceland!!!!!!!!!

Elvis's beautiful outfits are spread through out the buildings that you tour. I'd hate to guess how many of these there were. Elvis was known for his detailed outfits that he wore.

Pictures Left - Right .. The top painting is hanging in one of the buildings with the 2 bottom paintings. The picture of Priscilla & Lisa Marie is hung in the dining room. The picture of Elvis's parents, Glady's & Vernon is sitting on a table in the family room.

These pictures here are of the gate & walls that surround the mansion. I also took a picture of the horses. Elvis loved horses.

The walls are covered with names that people have written when they visited Graceland.

I can still remember the day Elvis died and my mom letting us watch his funeral on TV. I used to always think when i was younger Elvis was the man of my dreams and I was gonna marry him someday! I still love to watch all of his movies and play all of his music ..... Even dead he is one of my favorite actor/singers.

These pictures here are what the outside of the mansion looks like, the front and back. When you walk outside the back door of Graceland, you come upon the pool and then behind the pool is the Meditation Garden where there is a tribute to Elvis, his parents, grand mother and his twin brother who died at birth. This is a beautiful garden, with a a water fall. What's amazing is the flowers & items that are left by visiting fans on a daily basis. Elvis is still loved by his fans today.

It's amazing how even today how many billions of dollars Elvis still brings in. Even deceased he is still a popular entertainer today. I was shocked with it being Christmas Eve how many people were touring Graceland. I can't imagine what it would be like on any other day.

I was a bit surprised by Graceland. I had always thought it would be really fancy, but i guess for the 70's it was. It cost $10 to park and $30 per person to get into all the attractions. It was an expensive day, but worth every penny! It was a great Christmas gift to myself and what a way to spend Christmas Eve! Ususually home with family and spending the day with them. Who would of thought WOW .. It sure did make me Happy!!!

Elvis owned 2 planes, the larger one is named the Lisa Marie and the smaller plane is named The Hound dog II, it was neat to see the inside of these planes. It's about as far i will ever get on one, as i don't fly!! The other picture is of the museum that you get with your platinum tour of Graceland.

got back to the camper and today is my mother's birthday, and since she has been put on hospice, the family is all getting together today as this will most likely be her last birthday and Christmas. I surprised her with a phone call and wished her

Happy Birthday and a Merry Christams. I talked to my sister Patty as well. Even though i am not there with them in person i have been with them most of the day in spirit. I thought of them often during the tour at Graceland. It was decorated all over for Christmas! I also thought of Mama Viv today as she was a big time Elvis fan. That was one thing about her, anything you got her that had to do with Elvis she absolutely loved it, you could never go wrong getting her something to do with Elvis. Miss ya Mama Viv!
